Nursing in Public

Of course, it means breast feeding in public and according to a report a poll conducted on close to 4000 people, 48% stated they do not mind whereas 30% said they feel uncomfortable around mothers who are breast-feeding. According to them, they should do it in private. An incident that took place in Rhodes Island where a security had to ask a nursing mother to go to the rest room refused and will tell him to call the state police and in fact it was proven that the Rhodes Island state law passed in 1998 does not consider nursing in public as an offensive behavior.

It is very difficult to draw a line because there are women who claimed to be offended when they encounter a nursing mother. Mothers had been protesting that not allowing them to do so would violate their rights, not to mention the babies’ health. And according to them, some cap will have to be put on considering the human body always as a sexual object. No matter how insisting mothers are about it, the first impression still is they cannot breast feed in public, and in almost all cases where a complaint had been filed there was always a polite excuse, but till date there is no a clear-cut rule that says if mothers feel so they can nurse in public.
