Menthol Flavor on Cigarettes Makes Smoking a Tough Habit to Kick Off

It’s difficult to kick off a smoking habit as it is, but smoking menthol flavored cigarettes is said to make the effort more difficult. This means menthol itself is another habit-forming ingredient in cigarettes. Unfortunately it’s the black population that is very much fond of smoking menthol cigarettes and they are suffering the consequences. According to research made on smokers, aged 18–35 that stretched 15 years. The reports stated that the number involved was 1,535 smokers out of which around 730 were men and the rest females. Sixty-three % of these smokers preferred smoking menthol-flavored cigarettes. Statistics has it that 70% of black Americans prefer the mentoled cigarettes compared to 30% whites.

The conclusion after 10 years observation was that 69% of those who were smoking menthol cigarettes were still smoking when the research ended, while the figure for those who were not smoking menthol cigarettes was 54%, a significant amount of difference that made it possible to conclude that those who are smoking menthol cigarettes have a hard time of kicking off the habit. As far as the health ailment is concerned, both groups had shown similar deterioration in their health, the wellbeing, and normal functioning of their lung.
