Ban Lifted on Coke and Pepsi in India
The controversial ban of soft drinks manufactured by Coca-Cola and PepsiCo was lifted by the countries higher court. The ban was implemented after an environmental group finding that the soft drinks had a high level of pesticide making them unsafe for consumption. Both companies had refuted the finding and had claimed that their products are safe for consumption. Even if the higher court overruled the ban, the environmental group still believes that the soft drinks are not safe for consumption and are banned to be sold near schools and hospitals. The measure does affect both companies seriously that have close to $1.2 billion annul sales, which is miniscule when seen from the overall global market share both companies are enjoying. However, as anything else, it is always possible to see a market grow, and an economically advancing nation in the world with a huge population holds some promise and might be worth fighting for, and it seems business will go back to normal soon.
