Smart Cell Phones

Cell phones are being loaded with many features that used to be PC’s domain such as email, word processing, spreadsheets, TV streaming, music downloading, live TV shows and full-length movies. What the new trend is, all theses functionality where voice, contact, appointment, email, and access to the web were attractions for business people who were willing to pay for them. Now that trend is changing and ordinary customers from all walks of life want to use them too, and cell phone companies are noticing.

BlackBerry’s new Pearl phone, Sprint’s Treo 700wx, Cingular/Nokia’s e62, and the updated Sidekick 3 from T-Mobile are leading the way according to reports. What is fueling the new trend is the coming down of the prices of the smart phones that could be obtained with prices such as $199, $149, and $99 where many consumers have demonstrated their willingness to own these smartphones, because they like the connectivity and the added features. Some of them for example could serve as good as iPods since it is possible to expand their disk space up to 2GB by accepting cards.

According to some reports if there is something that should come down is the service providers’ fee that is being paid now by users, and that could be difficult for a while since the networks will have to upgrade their speed and connectivity. Other than that, watching live TV on cell phones will become a household item soon when the speed of the networks and the various software that are being developed are capable of handling the functionality.
