Intel is Winning Back the Processor War

The latest indication is Sun Micro System is attracted by what Intel is offering and there is a rumor that they are going to announce a joint effort soon. The arrangement is going to be while Sun that was using AMD’s chips for its servers exclusively will start using Intel’s new improved chips that are much faster, do not consume too much power, and do not heat much, Intel on the other hand will endorse the Sun’s Solaris operating system. Intel that had lost 5% of the overall chip market for its staunch competitor AMD is making a comeback after introducing a new upgraded design that is much faster and releases less heat. The two companies are in the habit of snatching clients from each other as earlier Dell was forced to use AMD’s chip even it was a devoted customer of Intel for a long time. Now Intel is going to get back a client it lost earlier simply because Sun had to choose AMD’s chip for its servers that was faster, consumes less power, resulting in its emitting less heat. AMD had felt its market share eroded after Intel introduced the new designed chips.
