Taking calcium supplement pill is scientifically proven not to be beneficial for anyone including kids above the age of three and especially women whose bone density will decrease after menopause and could suffer from Osteoporosis as they get older. That is in addition to fractures people suffer from as they age. The finding showed only a 1.7 bone density increase on those who were taking the supplement and the increase was only on the upper limbs, leaving the rest of the body unaffected. This means the hip and the lower spine that are vulnerable for fracture will not be benefited from the supplement. The recommendation is to depend on vitamin D, fruit, and vegetables from early on so that the bones will build resistance to fracture as individuals age.

However, even if it is proven that bone density and its structure is built and formed before reaching the age of two and breast-feeding has a lot to do with it, to keep a healthy and strong bone structure a daily calcium intake for life is required, whether it is obtained from milk or supplements.
